Arbor Day & Tree Giveaway

January 20, 2024 | 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Volunteer at the BRMS table or just stop by and be an arborist for a day!

Baton Rouge Green will host their annual tree giveaway at Arbor Day. One giveaway tree per household while supplies last.

Guests can also plant a tree, enjoy a scavenger hunt, meet Smokey Bear, and more! Your family can learn about native trees, take home a free tree, and plant a tree to watch it grow for generations using your tree’s GPS coordinates in the Burden Woods. All trees planted help to reforest our native trees lost during previous hurricane seasons.

Local food trucks Petite Rouge and Ole Mississippi Smokehouse will be serving up coffee, pastries and lunch at Arbor Day! This year we also welcome our first tree-related creative vendors.

The event is free and open to the public! We recommend visitors wear rubber boots, gloves and dress warmly!

Baton Rouge Mycological Society (BRMS) is an informal group of people interested in mycology.  BRMS is committed to the promotion of educational and scientific activities related to fungi.  BRMS supports the protection of natural areas and their biological integrity.  We advocate the sustainable use of mushrooms as a resource and endorse responsible mushroom collecting that does not harm the fungi or their habitats.
