2023 Winter Foray 

The GSMS 2023 Winter Foray is a great time to meet others BMRS and GSMS members along the gulf coast.

Please lets us know your interests in attending by registering here on the BRMS site.  It's our way of gauging interest and informing you of other events in the Baton Rouge area that are happening.

Registration and payment at the Gulf South Mycological Society's website is required to attend.  Please fill out the form below and contact Logan at gulfsouthmycologicalsociety@gmail.com. 

I am excited to open registration and even more excited to see you all at the beginning of December.  We will be sequencing up to 500 collections, the bulk of which we hope come from this foray.  Stephen Russell, who did all the sequencing for NAMA's annual foray and has been in charge of the Mycoblitzes that have been put on in association with the Fungal Diversity Survey (FunDiS), will be one of our speakers.  We are also excited to have an expert in southeastern truffles joining us.  His name is Ben Lemmonds, and he is completing his PhD at the University of Florida under Dr. Matt Smith.  He is by all accounts a wonderful guy who is passionate about his field and doing important work.  We are excited to have him join us, and we look forward to learning about how to find and identify our local truffles.
